Terms of Use & Disclaimer

Terms of use and disclaimer for traveltripwith.me — field guide compass and map

Last updated: 8 May 2026

This page sets out the terms of use that govern your visit to Travel & Trip With Me. By opening any page on the site, you accept these terms of use in full. If you do not accept them, do not use the site. In short: every trip note here is a personal opinion shared for free, the site comes with no warranty, and the site is not responsible for what you do with the information.

1. Nature of the site

Travel & Trip With Me is a small personal hobby blog. Therefore, the trip notes, walking routes, transit details, accommodation picks, restaurant and pub picks, opening times, prices, photos, illustrations, and tips on every page are personal opinions of the site owner shared free of charge. As a result, they are not professional travel advice. Furthermore, the site is not a tour operator, a guide service, a travel agency, or a publication regulated by any tourism authority.

2. No warranty — use at your own risk

All content is provided “as is” with no warranty of any kind, whether express or implied. Therefore, the site makes no guarantee that any information is accurate, complete, current, safe, legal, or fit for any particular purpose. You must verify everything independently before using it.

  • Walking, hill walking, coastal paths, river paths, and city walks all carry real risk. For example, weather changes fast, tides flood causeways, paths erode, cliffs crumble, and mountains kill people every year.
  • Train, bus, ferry, and tube times change weekly. Therefore, always confirm with the operator on the day of travel.
  • Pubs close, restaurants change owners, museums move, footpaths get diverted.
  • Accessibility, prices, opening hours, and entry policies can change without notice.
  • Always check the Met Office mountain forecast, the local authority for path closures, the relevant transit operator for times, and tide tables for any tidal walk before you go.

3. Hike at your own risk

This site is not responsible for your choices in the wild. If you twist an ankle on Win Hill, miss the last train from Edinburgh, get stranded by the Lindisfarne tide, or walk off a cliff because a pin on a map looked walkable — that is on you, not on this site.

You take full responsibility for your own safety, your fitness, your skill, your equipment, and your decisions on any trip you attempt as a result of reading this site. Therefore, always carry the right kit (waterproofs, map, compass, water, food, headtorch in winter), tell someone your route, and turn back if conditions change. Furthermore, for anything beyond your skill — mountain weather, sea kayaking, climbing, glacier travel — book a qualified guide. The site is not a substitute for professional instruction or local knowledge.

4. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the site, its owner, its hosting provider (IONOS), and any third-party service the site embeds (including but not limited to OpenStreetMap, OpenTopoMap, OSRM, and Open-Meteo) are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages of any kind, including but not limited to:

  • Death, injury, illness, or accident.
  • Property loss, theft, or damage.
  • Missed transit, cancelled bookings, denied entry, or refused service.
  • Financial loss or additional expenses.
  • Weather events or natural hazards.
  • Food poisoning or allergic reaction.
  • Errors in routes, times, prices, opening hours, or any other information on the site.
  • Any other consequence of relying on information from this site.

This limitation applies even if the site has been advised of the possibility of such damages, and even if any remedy fails of its essential purpose. However, nothing in these terms of use excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else that cannot be excluded under UK law.

5. Third-party content and links

Links to third-party sites (booking systems, train operators, museum sites, pubs, hotels, Wikipedia, etc.) are provided for convenience only. Therefore, the site has no control over the content, accuracy, availability, or privacy practices of those sites and is not responsible for them. Furthermore, the site does not endorse and does not represent any third party.

Map tiles, route calculations, and weather information are loaded from third-party services. Each service has its own terms and privacy policy; follow the links on the privacy policy page for details.

6. No user submissions

The public site has no submission feature. As a result, there is no comment system, no contact form, no public sign-up, no newsletter, and no public-facing form. Therefore, you cannot submit content to the site as a member of the public, and the site cannot be held responsible for any user-submitted content because none exists.

7. Intellectual property

All original content on the site (trip writeups, photos, illustrations, design, and code) is the copyright of the site owner. Therefore, you may read and link to the site freely. Furthermore, you may quote short excerpts with credit and a link back. However, you may not reproduce the site in whole, repackage trip writeups, scrape content for AI training, or republish photos or illustrations without written permission.

8. Indemnification

By using this site, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless the site, its owner, and its hosting provider from any claim, loss, expense, or damage (including legal costs) arising out of: your use of the site; your decision to follow any trip suggestion on the site; your reliance on any information published on the site; or any breach of these terms of use by you.

9. Governing law

These terms of use are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Therefore, any dispute arising under or in connection with these terms is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.

10. Changes to these terms of use

The site owner may update these terms of use at any time. Changes take effect when posted to this page. Therefore, the date at the top reflects the last revision. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the revised terms.

11. Severability

If any part of these terms of use is held by a court to be unenforceable, the rest of the terms remain in full effect.

12. Contact

For a legal question about these terms of use, contact the site owner via the email shown on the WordPress login page. For data questions, see the privacy policy.
